Following the presentation of the magazine 'El Anda' by Antonio Morales Balsalobre, a participant in the Holy Week processions in Cieza, the event continued with one of its most moving moments: the tribute to Enrique Centeno González, the 2026 Nazarene of the Year for Holy Week in Cieza.
This distinction recognizes an individual who, throughout the years, has demonstrated a profound commitment to Holy Week in Cieza, working consistently, discreetly, and generously to enhance it. His dedication and commitment, always with humility and without seeking the limelight, have significantly contributed to the preservation and dissemination of our Nazarene traditions.
During the ceremony, several people spoke, highlighting his career and his involvement with Holy Week in Cieza. First to speak was the president of the Board of Passion Brotherhoods, who emphasized the importance of Enrique's work over the years and publicly thanked him for his constant collaboration and commitment to the brotherhood community. Later, members of his family also shared some heartfelt words, recalling his dedication, his passion for Holy Week, and the affection with which he always lived and passed on this tradition.
One of the most special moments of the tribute was the screening of a video summary that compiled some of the abundant audiovisual material that Enrique Centeno has contributed to our Holy Week over so many years. This video allowed us to revisit, through images and memories, his invaluable contribution to the visual memory of our processions and traditions.
The recognition as Nazarene of the Year 2026 is thus a well-deserved tribute to a life of commitment to Holy Week in Cieza, highlighting the quiet and selfless work of those who dedicate their time and effort to keeping alive one of the deepest expressions of the town's identity and tradition.
