The solemn religious function was presided over by the "Cristo de la Agonía" and celebrated yesterday Sunday in the Basilica of "Nuestra Señora de la Asunción" by the Rev. Mr. José Antonio García López, Counselor of the ciezana Brotherhoods.
At the beginning, a dull drum silenced the crowded naves of the temple to announce the arrival of the Lord from his chael to the main altar. The Christ, carried by nazarenes of the Brotherhood, left the chapel in which it is located throughout the year under the Introit and the Kyrie of Fauré's Requiem, flooding the Basilica with powerful precision of musicians and choristers, filling the ceremony with spirituality majestic.
After thaksgiving, the nazarenes once again carried the cross of the "Cristo de la Agonía" on their shlouders and paraded, once again, towards their chapel to hoist the Lord over his calvary in anticipation of a new Holy Thursday.
Prior to the enthronement, on Saturday, February 24, at ten ninght, the Meditation of the "Seven Words of Jesus in his Agony" will be celebrated in the Basilica, in which in silence and with the darkness of the temple, the Counselor meditated on the words of Jesus, bringing them closer to the daily circunstances of each of us. The naves remained in darkness, excet for the Brotherhood chapel where there was only candlelight. At that moment, one could enjoy an atmosphere of deep meditation cradled by the distant echoes of the choral group directed by Patricia Dato.
