Yesterday, Sunday, April 3, the traditional Proclamation of Holy Week in Cieza took place in the Basilica of "Ntra. Sra. de la Asunción". This year the person in charge was Mr. José Antonio Gázquez Milanés. Graduated in Geography and History from the University of Murcia in the specialty of Modern and Contemporary History and University Specialist in Mediation in contexts of exclusion and discrimination, he is one of the connoisseurs of our Cieza and its Holy Week, as it has been for many years and It is still currently responsible for making Cieza known to all who visit it.

His proclamation, accompanied by a string group under the direction of Antonio Jesús Hernández Alba, transported the listener to the route of the Ciezan processions, as well as the protagonist of his beautiful speech. José Antonio guided a particular traveler during the Proclamation, a traveler who is the main protagonist of the Holy Week we celebrate, Jesus Christ. 

Before he delighted us with his magnificent prose, several events were held that further embellish the Day of the Proclamation. At 10 in the morning in the Hon. City Council of Cieza, Mr. Joaquín D. Gómez Rubio, President of the "Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias" of Cieza, asked the Mayor of Cieza, Mr. Pascual Lucas, that the eighteen Brotherhoods that make up the "Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias" could leave to the streets to give Cieza the walking catechism that is celebrated year after year. "Get out on the streets, we're back!" With these words Joaquín Diego encouraged the people of Cieza to experience a new Holy Week.

After that, the Banners of the respective Brotherhoods and of the "Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias" made the transfer-procession to the Monument to the Nazarene of Holy Week in Cieza, where the homage to the deceased Processionists of our Holy Week was made. Next, the "Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias" invited the Town Crier, Nazarene, Authorities and Presidents and members of the different Brotherhoods to the House-Museum of Holy Week in Cieza, where the town crier delivered to Holy Week the proclamation that moments later I would give Cieza. Subsequently, the town crier signed the Golden Book of Holy Week in Cieza, as well as the different Presidents and members of the "Junta de Hermandades Pasionarias" that have joined after the last Proclamation held, that of 2019.

To conclude the proclamation, the Cieza Municipal Music Band, under the baton of Ginés Martínez Morcillo, performed three processional marches: “Súplica” by Ignacio Sánchez Navarro, “Pasión y Gloria”, (Premiere) by Antonio Jesús Hernández Alba and “Holy Week Ciezana "by José Gómez Villa.
