SOLIDARITY CANDLES 2019, FOR THE "LIVING STONES" ASSOCIATION

Last Wednesday, February 6, with the rite of the imposition of ashes, Lent began. After the Solemn Religious Function, the Board of Passion Brotherhoods through the Charity Board, with the award of Solidarity Candles, named the Living Stones Association, its social work of delivery to those most in need.

The Piedras Vivas Association is a non-profit association, which was born in Cieza in 2016, at the initiative of the priest D. Mariano Caballero who, together with a group of friends and countrymen, share among themselves the concern to improve the quality of life. of the people and families in their closest environment, vulnerable to social exclusion due to illness, economic reasons or any other that implies a situation of risk, emergency and/or social exclusion.

In his short career serving the needy, he already has some recognition from associations at the local level.

It is currently made up of 80 volunteers and 30 collaborators who support them financially so that their projects go ahead, contributing in a timely manner with the financial support of any of the projects or activities they develop.

They are currently working on three projects:

-Proyecto Contigo: it consists of a service of accompaniment and family respite for people who are admitted to the Hospital de la Vega Lorenzo Guirao de Cieza

-Tinajas de Piedra Project: socio-educational project through which a Care Center for minors in situations of social risk and/or victims of abuse will be launched, as well as a Toy Library for carrying out extracurricular activities in order to promote the development of cognitive, psychomotor and affective-social skills.

Finally, the Social Dining Project, from which the Piedras Vivas Association provides its services to the needy people of Cieza from Monday to Friday and serving the main meal at noon.
