Last Sunday the traditional transfer and subsequent Procession of the Holy Virgin took place. Virgen del Buen Suceso, thus beginning the events in her honor that will take place throughout the entire month of September.

The descent of the Patrona is always special for various reasons, but on this occasion it was even more so, thanks to the magnificent restoration work selflessly carried out by the Ciezano artist Mr. Antonio Jesús Yuste Navarro, who has recovered the original essence of the sacred Image, as it left the workshop of Juan González Moreno in 1942, after the burning of the previous image in the civil war.

And the Virgin came down radiant to meet her loved ones, to which the wonderful costume that she was wearing for the first time contributed, entirely made and donated by the Martínez Perpiñán family, helping in this way to enrich the Patroness's trousseau, as they have generously done in previous years. .

As we see, the Virgin does not lack good friends, as did her children from Cieza who, despite the high temperatures, came en masse to accompany their Patron Saint, as has not been remembered for years, and who has once again highlighted the immense affection from the people of Cieza for their mother.

At 4:45 p.m. the beats of the Royal March sounded and the transfer from the Sanctuary began, which would last for almost three hours until the Virgin reached an Iron Bridge packed with faithful, at which point the Procession began. The Francisco Salzillo choir and dance group, children dressed in regional costume, people in general, municipal corporation and local clergy participated, as is traditional.

The procession followed the usual route at an ordinary pace, accompanied by the musical association "Los Revoltosos" who this year carried out the complete route, offering their undeniable musical quality at the service of the Virgin, and which delighted companions and spectators.

At 9 p.m., after a fireworks display, the Holy Virgin. Virgen del Buen Suceso entered the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, once again packed, to begin the solemn religious function in her honor, which was officiated by D. José Solano González. At the end of it, a modest thank you was carried out to Antonio Jesús Yuste for his work as restorer of the Image.
