Thousands of people from all over the planet live Holy Week in Cieza with Passion through Social Networks and the Television
Holy Week passed, but it did not pass by. The virtual events and the memory of the participants of this genuine celebration of this town -Cieza- of 35,000 inhabitants located in the Mediterranean region of Murcia, in Spain, have been a successful call through Social Networks and regional television.
A Party on the verge of being declared of International Tourist Interest, especially for the beauty, sentimental and artistic value of its processions on Holy Friday, and that has not been defeated by the COVID 19 Pandemic. In fact, quite the opposite.
The Ciezano City Council, in the hands of the Board of Brotherhoods, programmed for this Holy Week a complete program of events that reminded of the traditional Fiesta and with those who wanted to save this 2021 -the second without celebrations- in the best possible way. That is why a series of activities was devised that were broadcast virtually and that served to keep the flame of Holy Week alive, remembering each day of this magical celebration, through interviews and images from past editions.
Holy Friday
The culmination of the program took place on Holy Friday, the most anticipated moment of Holy Week in Cieza. Thousands of people from all over the planet witnessed an unprecedented musical and religious experience in the Universe of Holy Week and that moved the locals and lovers of this Festival located all over the world to the almost real stage of this special day. They were able to witness fragments of the processions, identify the characters of the steps and even listen to the processional marches that acted, live, in previous sessions recorded at the Capitol Theater, complying with all the security regulations that mark the COVID protocol.
The program broadcast by Networks and the Regional Television of Murcia included a special dedicated to the Procession of the Penitent, a second part to the Procession of the Holy Burial, and a final special program on Holy Friday with personalized interviews.
Some programs that had real images of the processions of previous years, fragments of the processions and their characters captured in the Theater in the representation and with the interpretation of marches by the Averroes Musical Group of the OJE of Cieza.
A show never seen before and that, in the words of the Major of Cieza, Pascual Lucas, “moved the people of the city, reminding them that the future is possible, it is near and that very soon we will be able to experience our Holy Week in the street and in the first person . Cieza couldn't afford two years in a row without Easter. Let's hope that, in 2022, our Holy Week returns to the streets ”.

The detailed analysis of the audience data in Social Networks of the Holy Week shows some interesting audience and follow-up data; both quantitatively and qualitatively. Thus, between March 15 and April 5, the Social Networks of Holy Week in Cieza achieved 400,000 impressions, about 50,000 interactions with people from all over the world. Nearly 150,000 reproductions of the videos produced for this virtual Easter were registered.
Regarding the broadcasts by Murcian Regional Television, the response was also exceptional, with more than 60,000 people connected to the signal on Holy Friday, being one of the most watched programs of the day.
