ECHOES OF "EL ANDA" (XIV) - A snapshot of Friday of Sorrows
He continues to wear his purple tunic, he catapulted Holy Week in Cieza into the 21st century dressed in black, but the truth is that Rafael Salmerón never left the gaze of the child who saw the Saints go by. Now that look has curdled with seniority and a certain aesthetic delight. That is why he can speak to us about yesterday and today about Friday of Dolores with the criteria of someone who knows how to enjoy nostalgia without drowning out the full experience of what the present offers at the end of Ciezana's Lent.
ECHOES OF "EL ANDA" (XIII) - The Storehouse of Memory
To these Echoes that follow in the wake of our beloved magazine El Anda comes the Nazarene chronicle of the year 2020, historical in a way that we would never have imagined. Mª Ginesa Martínez and Josefa Salinas, who lived through the arrival of the pandemic from the front row of the responsibilities of the brothers, tell us, in a reinvented Memorandum exercise, how the life of brotherhood, the meetings of the directives and the Easter all.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (XII) - The last exit from the “José de Arimathea” pass?
Tolkien already said that not even the wisest of the wise knows the end of all roads. At each intersection, at each decision that is made, there are many futures that fade into the nothingness of what never was. Pedro García, a Samaritan in robes and in heart, invites us to reflect prudently and fairly on the historical role that the "José de Arimathea" step has had in the Brotherhood, which will be replaced after almost three decades summoning the brothers in every Good Friday night.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (XI) - A “solo” in the dark
Holy Week in Cieza, even asleep, never stops inventing small miracles. Also in 2020, that year when everything fell apart in the middle of Lent. Hope sometimes has no form, only sound... the incomparable sound of music.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (X) - Twenty years later
What happened in 2001 was simply historic. No Ciezano processionist will ever be able to forget the feeling of fullness of that Easter, after verifying to what extent the experience of living Our Week had grown in depth and intensity with the two new processions, the Via Crucis of the Blood and the Descent of Christ into the hells. Joaquín Martínez had the privilege of experiencing first-hand the genesis and development of two projects that changed Holy Week in Ciez forever.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (IX) - Infinite Lent
He had, and still has, the most beautiful commission that a ciezo can receive. He gave himself to the task in body and soul, looking for the best way to announce to the brothers the arrival of the Great Days. But history got in the way, and the Holy Week Proclamation in Cieza by José Antonio Gázquez continues to hope for a Passion Sunday in which everything will once again dress in illusion. He is no longer in charge of announcing the 2020 processions, but something much more important: he is the herald of the Return of Holy Week.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (VIII) - The flower, a servant
The gold, the flower, the wood. Sumptuousness, ephemeral art, heritage. Our processions are inconceivable without the thrones debuting that brilliant and colorful costume provided by the florists and that singles out each outing with inexhaustible creativity. Juan Fernández, a member of the "El Anda" and Art Commission, focuses on the relationship, which was not always well suited, between the floral arrangement, carved ornamentation and its conservation. It is the difficult art, in order to find the right measure.
ECHOES OF "EL ANDA" (VII) - To Jesus, the Nazarene!
On the return of the pandemic, many good things await Holy Week in Cieza, including a sensational project that will provide the Prendimiento ciezano with a great composition of its own, composed by Roque Baños. The tireless brother José Ángel García tells us about the genesis of this project, which he knows so well, and its creator, the Jumillano composer, increasing with his article our enthusiasm for a premiere that is called to make history in Holy Week in blindness
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (VI) - Yuste Navarro: “The confidence of the Samaritans had to be compensated with an exceptional group of sculptures”
Even in this time without processions, Holy Week in Cieza continues to grow, in silence, to forge a resounding return. There is no better example than what has been germinating for years now in the workshop of the sculptor Antonio Jesús Yuste Navarro. The pandemic has not diverted him from the effort to make one of his great dreams come true: the passage of the Holy Burial of the Samaritan Brotherhood, called to sign the splendid procession on the night of Good Friday.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (V) - 2009, Coronation
The author of the winning photograph of the XXXIII Cieza Holy Week Photography Contest is, despite his youth, an old acquaintance of the contest itself and an active promoter of content related to the Nazarene universe, as well as a brotherhood and pro processionist. José María Cámara, who wins the contest for the second time in a row, tells us the story behind this fantastic photograph of the Christ of the Coronation of Thorns.
ECHOES OF “EL ANDA” (IV) - La Amargura ciezana, pop-art star in the city of Los Angeles.
Although Holy Week in Cieza is held in the town and for the town, in recent decades the effort to make his name resonate throughout the world has been a constant. Sometimes, however, that resonance is achieved without looking for it, and in a surprising way: one of the magazine's most faithful writers, Antonio Gómez, tells us about the boundless success of the image of Nuestra Señora de la Amargura.
